As part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region project INTERACTIVE GARDENS, two multifunctional recreation areas have been developed and officially opened in Aizkraukle region. The project aims to integrate modern technological conveniences, interactive elements, and natural resources to create an accessible, sustainable recreational environment for both residents and visitors.

Jaunjelgava (Pļavu Street near the pump track): active recreation, music, and green energy

Located right next to the asphalt pump track in Jaunjelgava, the new recreation area seamlessly combines physical activity, sound, and smart technologies:

  • Create rhythm and sound: An outdoor drum set featuring five drums of varying heights and tones has been installed. Serving as a freely accessible interactive instrument, it gives visitors of all ages an opportunity to develop their rhythm and play music together.

  • Solar energy charging stations: Two designer solar charging stations have been delivered and installed. Equipped with solar panels, gel batteries, trumpet-shaped wireless charging surfaces, and three USB fast-charging ports, they allow visitors to power their smart devices using renewable energy.

Aizkraukle (Draudzības promenade along the Daugava river): relaxation and nature watching

Spanning approximately 0.3 hectares along the slope of the Daugava riverbank, a peaceful oasis has been created for scenic views and relaxing by the water:

  • Relief-integrated relaxation nets: Three custom-built structures with green synthetic ribbon mesh surfaces have been installed on the slope. Offering comfortable seating or lying positions (designed for 2-3 people or up to 230 kg), they provide a perfect spot to watch the flow of the river and enjoy the surrounding landscape.

  • Waterfront smart features: The relaxation zone is complemented by three solar charging stations, enabling visitors to stay connected while enjoying nature.

Functionality, safety, and accessibility

  • Integrated lighting: The solar stations are equipped with built-in LED lights that illuminate the recreation spots at dusk and during the night, creating a safe and welcoming environment.

  • All-weather durability: All landscaping and playground elements, from metal and HPL structures to the drum bodies and net frames, are UV-resistant, weatherproof, and fully compliant with safety standards for public recreation areas (including EN1176 standards).

We warmly invite residents of Aizkraukle and Jaunjelgava, as well as visitors to the region, to enjoy the new infrastructure, make music, charge your devices, and unwind surrounded by nature!
